Q Notes, Day 110

It seems like a long time ago now, but a few election years back (2004), I really, really wanted Wesley Clark to win the Democratic Party nomination for president. I thought Clark had every quality necessary to complete two terms successfully, and would be a million times better than the incumbent, Bush 43. Instead, the (D)s chose John Kerry as their guy with a military background better than W's.

Back then, I believed W was the worst president in history, and probably the worst one there ever would be. Little did I know.

In 2008, I hoped Clark would run again, assuming the (D)s had learned their lesson after Kerry's defeat. Eventually, the (D) race was between HRC and BHO. That worked out okay, although at the time, I considered Ace McCain as an alternative... until Sarah Palin popped up as his VP choice.

So Wes Clark won't ever be president, but he's in a position to tear the current one a new hole in an op-ed for USA Today.

Juanita Jean points out that, sure enough, Greg Abbott's apparent transformation from right-wing asshole to sensible thinker was temporary. Greg says wearing face masks when you go to vote would be nice, but certainly isn't required. At the moment, the exemption pertains to state primary election now underway. What about November? If voting by mail isn't implemented, requiring masks at voting locations could mean that only the Democrats on the ballot would win. How will Greg handle this dilemma?

Daily Kos report says that demographic groups that supported Don Dhump in 2016 may not be behind him in 2020, and that could mean that the neo-Nazis and the KKK will be the new GOP majority.

Summer walks in Texas

Judging by the amount of water on driveways and sidewalks and in the street, some Texans seem to think you can grow concrete and asphalt using lawn sprinklers.
