Q NOTES # 513: Short Cuts 31

Worthless political hack Greg Abbott has done nothing noticeable in terms of public policy to confront the COVID crisis in Texas. Now he has the unmitigated gall to seek assistance from other states by bringing in their trained medical personnel to bail him out. I hope Greg gets a lot of offers from worker in other states to punch his T.S. card for him.

Added 1:02 PM Wednesday: There's an obvious reason the governor of Florida is now referred to on the Internet as Ron Death Sentence

In Texas, the governed strike back. They're mad as hell and aren't gonna take it anymore. There are more reasons to hate Texas than I can count, but 100 of them are in the legislature (eighteen in the Senate, and eighty-two more in the House)

And we continue to learn that as bad as we thought it was, it was actually much worse. That 2017 humongous tax cut for the ultra-wealthy was really custom-fitted to benefit a selected group of billionaires in particular. Real estate developers, for example.

Every day, I spend less time reading the news than the day before. That's because most of the news is too damned depressing, and makes things seem hopeless. At least once a day, I stumble onto a story that makes me smile, like the one @ Daily Kos about Senate (R)s voting to pass Joe's infrastructure bill despite Cheezy's threats to destroy any of them who did.

Summer walks in Texas

Judging by the amount of water on driveways and sidewalks and in the street, some Texans seem to think you can grow concrete and asphalt using lawn sprinklers.
