Near the top of a long list of things that are discouraging to me is this fact: Rick Perry is exactly what most Texans want in their governor.
The editorial in the Houston Chronicle doesn't say it, but I will: Perry is as chickenshit as they come when he tries to divert attention from himself as the legislature completes its Texas chainsaw massacre on public education in this state. The 10,000 bucks a month we're pumping into rent for Perry's temporary mansion is also on the list of things that discourage me.
