Sunday TRashdUMP

In politics, most of the important stuff happens during the M-F work week. Since there isn't much interesting activity on the weekend, I spend more minutes than usual checking out the opinions being shared in DU discussion forums and liberal webpage reader comments. This morning I was surprised by the pessimism about the coming election voiced by liberals in forums and comments. It seems like a lot of Democrats are bracing for another win by the waste of shit. Personally, I'm more optimistic about Joe B kicking his ass again. Here are some of the factors that give me hope:

  • The odds are good that Donald Turnip will be found guilty on at least some of the 91 felony counts he'll face in trials held in NYC, Washington DC., Florida, and Georgia. There have been several polls reporting that significant numbers of MAGA voters won't vote for Turnip after he's been convicted of a felony.
  • Turnip is winning the MAGA primary elections, but he's losing substantial percentages of the vote as follows: (Iowa 51-49), New Hampshire (54-46), Nevada (Dump did not participate in primary), South Carolina (60-40). Turnip is getting 50-60 percent of the MAGA primary vote, and exit polls show that many Republicans voting against him in primaries won't vote for him in November either.
  • in the next few weeks, there should be plenty of media reporting about the difficulty Turnip is facing as a result of his New York fraud cases and the E. Jean Carroll defamation lawsuit, and his lack of funds to secure the bond.
  • The media obsession over Joe Biden's age should be offset (or balanced) by increased media coverage of Turnip's obvious dementia.
  • Turnip intends to grab control of the RNC by replacing its leadership with members of his family and loyal accomplices. Lara (his son Eric's wife) is expected to hold a major position, and has already told reporters that the RNC treasury will be spent on making sure Turnip wins by paying his legal expenses. This may be a bridge too far for some influential Republicans.

Summer walks in Texas

Judging by the amount of water on driveways and sidewalks and in the street, some Texans seem to think you can grow concrete and asphalt using lawn sprinklers.
