Q NOTES # 556: Short Cuts 52

Former guy Donnie Dump and pillow pusher Mike Lindell get press coverage every time they make a statement that's an obvious lie. Since they both thrive on being in the media spotlight, there's no incentive to tell the truth. Lindell has revised his bullshit prediction repeatedly; his newest version is that the Supreme Court will probably throw Joe out of the White House in November, and replace him with the Dumpster, based on evidence that only Mike Lindell can provide. He's promising the court will vote 9-0 to hear the case he wants to present.

The Democratic governor of Kentucky ordered all school districts in the state to require masks. The Republican legislature then repealed the governor's mask mandate. Since the repeal, all but six of the 171 school districts have reinstated mask mandates. This suggests that Kentucky might not be as hopelessly fucked up as sending Moscow Mitch and Rand Paul to the U.S. Senate would indicate. Certainly not as fucked up as Texas. (summary of report in Washington Post daily electronic newsletter).

Anti-vax yahoos continue to get infected and fill up hospital beds, including some who are well-known celebrities in certain right-wing yahoo social circles. It seems like this would motivate more of the anti-vaxxers to go ahead and get the damn shots. Instead, it seems like many of them would rather get sick, maybe die, than betray the MAGA cult. An article @ Daily Kos today offers a hint regarding what's going on here. This is a key excerpt:

"...it's been very important for Republicans to differentiate this pandemic disease from all the others, because this was the pandemic disease that was allowed to kill a half million Americans under the bored watch of an incompetent pathological liar the party had hitched its entire reputation to."

As much as anything I've read, that explains why Trumplicans continue to treat COVID like it's no big deal. Remember when the Dump told them COVID would go away on its own? Maybe Mike Pence believed that shit, like he apparently believes Donny Nacho will sit by quietly while Mike runs for the White House in '24.

Donny Nacho lives by the motto, "Tell 'em lies as long as they'll pay to hear 'em." Another motto: "When in doubt, try filing another lawsuit."

Summer walks in Texas

Judging by the amount of water on driveways and sidewalks and in the street, some Texans seem to think you can grow concrete and asphalt using lawn sprinklers.
