@ Daily Kos: An interesting summary of how Cheez Doodle tried to use the COVID pandemic to guarantee a win in the November election.
Greg Abbott (a) lies as easily as he draws breath, and (b) might have trouble with 6th grade math. His latest bullshit allegation (from a Washington Post article): Texas has virtually achieved 'herd immunity' if you total up the number of people who have already had COVID and the number who've already been vaccinated.
The magic 'herd immunity' threshold is still somewhat uncertain, but the people who are paid to know estimate that it might begin at roughly 70 percent of the population, and could require at least 90 + percent. Dr. Fauci says 80-85 percent might be a solid estimate. Texas is somewhere around 29 percent, based on an estimated 2.8 million infected COVID survivors and 5.5 million persons vaccinated. Even assuming that the number of infected survivors has been under-counted, Texas is probably well short of 70-80 percent.
But Abbott never lets factual data interfere with his sales pitch, making him another worthless political hack who fits perfectly in the Texas RepubliQAn Party.
Speaking of worthless Texas political hacks, I can't overlook John (Cornhole) Cornyn, who's trying to make a big deal out of Joe Biden's approach to the presidency, which is almost the exact opposite of Cheez Doodle's in every way. Maybe Cornhole is afraid that returning the country to a condition of relative calm with competent, effective leadership from the White House spells bad news for Porky's Party. Would most Americans ever want four more years of that shit circus?
Remember Reagan Democrats, from back in the 1980s? Digby @ Hullabaloo considers the idea of Biden Republicans. I need to keep an eye on that possibility.
The unqualified bottom-feeders who occupied paying jobs in Trumpalooza seem to be gradually sliding back to where they came from.
