Q. Notes, Day 145

There are several things I'd do differently if I had a chance to live my life over again, knowing what I know now. First, I'd take care of my teeth better in the second go-round than I did in the first one. Second, I would never let myself get burned up by summer sunshine the way I did between the ages of 12 and 25. There are more, but those are the top two.

Yesterday I spent about 40 minutes with a dermatologist, paying dues for my negligence as a younger man. Being treated for various carcinomas is something I've had to experience too many times, and although the procedures are relatively simple compared to brain surgery, they're still unpleasant.

At any rate, I'm setting this day aside as a recuperation day. Instead of walking three miles in the heat, I'm trimming 600 calories out of my normal diet for the day to offset the lack of exercise.

Since the excision yesterday left me with some literal pain in my neck, I'm not interested in reading or writing about Cheezy, a figurative pain in the neck. Probably be back in my usual groove tomorrow. At least, I hope so.

Cook Political Report has some interesting analysis on the various political polls.

Summer walks in Texas

Judging by the amount of water on driveways and sidewalks and in the street, some Texans seem to think you can grow concrete and asphalt using lawn sprinklers.
