The mainstream American news media stopped being worth a damn after the Watergate scandal in the 1970s. Every year since Nixon resigned, they've been incrementally slipping into irrelevance. Here's how bad it's gotten: A right-wing political hack appears on some cable news talk show and pukes up every crazy talking point in his repertoire. The Associated Press quotes him and reports his TV bullshit like it's actually news. Then most newspapers run the wire service story, especially small-time rags like the one in my town.
It can easily be argued that Trump wouldn't be the GOP nominee if the mainstream media hadn't presented him with millions of dollars worth of free publicity, and had instead exposed him as a fat, lying fuck operating a marathon scam.
Maybe the media people will get off their worthless asses and do their jobs for a change, and Trump will get the painful kick in the groin he's deserved for about ten years. But first, they'll need to stop trembling and worrying about being accused of liberal bias.
