This morning we have Republicans all over the country gloating about their huge win in the Massachusetts election yesterday. I sifted through some of the commentary linked at the usual op-ed pages, and finally came across something worth reading by the reliable observer, Joe Conason.
When the Democrats took over a year ago, I hoped they'd make noticeable progress cleaning up the fucking mess left by Republicans, but I was afraid they'd screw it up and they did. Now the GOP has a Senate voting bloc that can, for all intents and purposes, bring things to a screeching halt. In effect, Republicans can make a credible claim that they'll control the congressional agenda as soon as Brown is officially seated.
I can't honestly defend 99 percent of the things Democrats have done this year, so I'm ready to shift the blame for this shit back to the Republicans. Let them carry the burden again.
