The backlog in processing food stamp applications has once again attracted the attention of the Austin American Statesman, where I came across this editorial. The topic holds my interest since it's one of the few news stories that I can relate to based on first-hand experience, and because it involves one of my pet peeves, the obsession of conservatives with privatization of public service programs.
Unfortunately, if the people making policy decisions in Texas gave a shit what the AAS editorial board thought, the problem probably wouldn't exist to begin with.
